Hot Wedding Colours for 2009!

share

Those who are planning to get married in the year 2009 surely would have welcomed the New Year with both a sense of dread and anticipation. Anticipation because you're finally going ahead with the actual wedding planning - and dread because you feel as if you will not have enough time to make the wedding as perfect as you want it to be!

Wdding Fashion Colours for 2009

There's no need to panic, though. Think of the New Year as a fresh start for you as a soon-to-be-wed couple. By planning a wedding for the year 2009, you can forget all about your wedding being compared to the lavish, Hollywood-worthy ceremony that your cousin had during the spring of 2008.

You can basically start afresh, forget about the trends which ruled the wedding industry last year - and contribute to the creation of new wedding trends for 2009!

The First Step for Planning a Wedding: Choosing a Colour

Whether you can be categorized as a woman who goes with the trend or sticks with the classics - there's one big decision that you need to make first before going for either the trendy or the classics: the colour for your wedding.

Your florist will not even talk to you about the blooms that will be used to decorate the ceremony and reception if you haven't picked out a colour yet! And what about the cakes, the decorations, the bridesmaids' dresses, the invitations, the wedding favours - every aspect of the wedding planning is centred on the colour that you will select - so that is definitely the first decision that you need to make!

So What are the Hottest Wedding Colours for 2009?

Before letting you in on the hottest colours which will rule the wedding church aisles for 2009, let us first pay tribute to the colours which grazed the wedding reception halls in 2008:

  • Soft greens with a hint of white
  • Soft lilac shades with a bit of dark purple undertones
  • Rich, chocolate brown shades
  • The classic, monochromatic black and white colour theme

Now, for the year 2009, some of the dominant hues for the past couple of years may still be present. However, if you are a trendy bride who is up to the challenge of having a really fashion-forward wedding, prepare yourself because 2009 is all about bold shades.

Sure, there will always be room for the classic white hues and pastel hues in traditional weddings, but the really trendy brides have something more exciting to look forward to.

During the Spring 2009 bridal fashion shows held last year, designers Carolina Herrera and Vera Wang showcased bold colours on the runway. For your wedding gown, you can still have that touch of a traditional white gown for the bottom part of your dress - but the latter part can be made with a different accent colour - like a combination of black and white romantic pattern which is incorporated on the bodice of the gown.

If you're bold enough, you can wear an ultra-trendy red hot wedding gown by some of the top designers in the industry.

Or maybe you can stick to a white gown but just incorporate the bold colours as an accent to your couture dress.

Next, let us take a look at the top wedding colour searches - and you get to decide which one you can use for your own wedding:

  • Different shades of orange or red
  • Brown with a hint of champagne shades
  • Vibrant yellow
  • Pink
  • Purple
  • Orange
  • Varying shades of blue
  • Warm 'stone' shades which is like a grayish-brown hue

Black and white, which was dominant last year, will still continue to be a trend in the year 2009. The year is barely starting, so it's actually up to the brides of the year 2009 to dictate what else the hottest colours will be.

As a general rule, think of colours which are exotic, strong, bold - while the other end of the spectrum is saturated. No neon colours, choose the luminous ones instead.

Finally, make sure that the splashes of whatever colour it is that you will select can be seen on the décor of the wedding ceremony and the reception hall - from the tables, floral arrangements, reception decors up to the wedding favors.

So far this season colours like chocolate brown and fusica have been very popular as colours for wedding receptions. The classic colours like silver and gold are still selling well too.
